ABOUT Dr Barbara
Specialist Dermatologist
Dr Barbara van der Westhuizen is a qualified specialist dermatologist based in Durbanville, Cape Town, with expertise in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. She has a particular interest in skin cancer diagnosis and treatment.
After graduating with an MBChB from the University of Stellenbosch in 2010, Dr Barbara completed her internship at East London Hospital Complex and community service at Gordonia Hospital in Upington. She worked as a general practitioner in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town for six years before specialising in dermatology.
Dr Barbara is passionate about patient education and prevention, regularly sharing skincare advice and tips on managing skin conditions through social media and community initiatives.

General Practitioner
Dr Johan van der Westhuizen is a dedicated general practitioner with over a decade of experience in evidence-based medicine. Known for his gentle, compassionate approach, he has a deep passion for working with the elderly and supporting overall wellbeing.
In recent years, he has developed a keen interest in natural aesthetics, skin conditions, and holistic health—believing that a healthy skin begins with a healthy body. Dr Johan has found his niche as Dr Barbara’s right hand, offering a supportive, integrative approach to patient care.
